Kolot Kehilla with Mark Copelovitch: Financial Crises: Why Do They Keep Happening (Or Not)? What Can We Do About Them (Or Not)?

Financial Crises: Why Do They Keep Happening (Or Not)? What Can We Do About Them (Or Not)?

Professor Mark Copelovitch will discuss his new book on financial crises, as well as the impact of the pandemic on the economy and what it might mean for US and global financial stability.

Banks on the Brink investigates a complex issue of tremendous economic and political importance: what makes some countries vulnerable to banking crises, while others emerge unscathed? The book analyzes over thirty years of data and provides historical case studies of two key countries, Canada and Germany, each of which explores how political decisions in the 19th and early-20th centuries continue to affect financial stability today. The analyses in this book have crucial policy implications, identifying potential regulations and policies that can work to protect banking systems against future crises.

But what about brunch?! Under the creative guidance of Adrienne Borisy Gross and Barry Rich, our brunch menu matches the theme of the presentation. Although we can't gather around the same breakfast tables together, we can enjoy the same foods. Try one or more of these recipes at home! In keeping with the theme of Mark's talk, the menu features Canadian and German foods.
