N’tivon
Post B’nei Mitzvah Education
We believe it is vital that teens continue learning and participating in our shul community, and we don’t want our members to leave us with a 7th grade education. We also believe it is important important for our teens to feel they have a Rabbi who knows them well, and with whom they can have deep conversations. Rabbi Betsy has designed N’tivon to support the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth that is unique to the teen years. N’tivon builds connections while exploring the core questions of life through the lens of Jewish text and discussion. N’tivon will help prepare our emerging adult members to go out into the world as informed, educated and comfortable Jewish adults.
Rabbi Betsy brings a depth of experience in teaching and learning with adolescents to N’tivon. N’tivon fosters connections to our kahal in ways centered on the needs and thinking of teens. And, because we know that teens lead busy lives, the program is carefully structured to deepen connections over five years, through a handful of special Shabbat experiences each year. This year’s sessions are 1 hour and 45 minutes long, most ending with Havdallah.
N’tivon now is an expected component of Beth Israel Center’s educational program. Thanks to an initial funding gift, we are able to offer N’tivon for only $54 per student. These fees offset the costs of the Shabbat afternoon meals.
In addition to N’tivon, we encourage our teens to paricipate in Midrasha and our Gesher and MOUSY programs.
Here are the N’tivon dates for this year:
